Simply set upside down reading left to right, as letterpress type is set, in Berthold Akzidenz-Grotesk® Bold, often referred to as the original sans. Released in 1896, its first life was in lead. The typeface originated from Royal Grotesk light by royal type-cutter Ferdinand Theinhardt. In the 1950s Günter Gerhard Lange enlarged the family under the direction of Günter Gerhard Lange.
